What material is the plastic mold made of?
Plastic mold is an important tool for the production of various plastic products, often used in automobiles, home appliances, electronics and other industries. There are many kinds of plastic mold materials, different materials have different properties and uses, the following are several common materials:
(1) Aluminum alloy material
Aluminum alloy molds are commonly used in small batch production or products that require rapid manufacturing. This material has good thermal conductivity, which can speed up the manufacturing process, while also having good corrosion and wear resistance. Aluminum alloy molds are generally easier to process than other materials, more economical, and can be quickly customized for production.
(2) Ordinary steel material
Ordinary steel is an affordable mold material suitable for making some simple, low pressure parts. Common steel molds are usually made of 45 steel, 50 steel, S45C, S50C, etc. Although the strength of this material is not high, but because of its cheap, it is widely used in the manufacturing of molds, especially in small molds, low load molds and short life molds.
(3) Bearing steel material
Bearing steel has good toughness and wear resistance, and is one of the choices of high-quality mold materials. Common bearing steel materials include GCr15, SUJ2, etc., which can be used to manufacture medium and high pressure large molds, such as automotive parts.
(4) Stainless steel material
Stainless steel has excellent oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance and toughness, which makes it often used in the production of food packaging machinery, medical equipment and high-demand plastic product parts. Stainless steel molds are usually made of materials such as SUS304 or SUS420J2, which are particularly suitable for use in the manufacture of high-quality products.
(5) Engineering plastic materials
Engineering plastics is a new type of high-strength mold material with stronger casting properties and excellent performance in the manufacture of plastic molds. The most commonly used engineering plastics include nylon (PA), polyimide (PI), aramid (PPS) and so on. These plastics have high temperature resistance, high strength and excellent chemical resistance, and are suitable for the manufacture of high-quality plastic molds.
It should be noted that even if the same model, due to different material choices there are large differences, the cost of plastic molds, service life, efficiency and other parameters are also very different. Therefore, in the selection of plastic mold materials should be carefully analyzed in terms of its performance, scope of application and reliability indicators, to ensure the selection of appropriate mold materials.
