What does injection mold kernel mean?

The mold is a key component in the injection mold, which is located inside the template and is mainly used to push out or push in the plastic part. The structure of the mold is complex, the processing is difficult, and the cost is high, and the material selection is directly related to the cost of the mold, the service life and the quality of the molding product.

The selection criteria for mold materials can be considered from the following four aspects:

(1) Material properties:

Hardness: The mold material should have a high hardness to ensure the wear resistance and service life of the mold.
Toughness: Good toughness can prevent the mold from breaking or collapsing during use.
Wear resistance: The injection mold needs to withstand frequent friction and wear during use, so the mold material should have good wear resistance.
Corrosion resistance: For some special application scenarios, such as plastics containing corrosive substances, the mold material should also have good corrosion resistance.

(3) Use environment:

Temperature: The mold material should be able to maintain stability at the high temperature required for injection molding, and should also have certain heat resistance fatigue properties.
Humidity: In some humid environments, the mold material should be able to resist the erosion of moisture and avoid rust or corrosion.

(3) Processing performance:

Malleability: Mold material should be easy to forge and process to reduce costs and manufacturing cycles.
Machinability: Good machinability can improve the manufacturing accuracy and efficiency of the mold.
Hardening: High hardness and wear resistance can be obtained after quenching.

(4) Economy:

Cost: Under the premise of meeting the performance of use, the mold material with lower cost should be selected as far as possible.
Availability: The availability of mold materials is also one of the factors that need to be considered when choosing, and priority should be given to materials with stable supply and reasonable prices.

Common injection mold materials are Cr12MoV, 9SiCr, SKD11, etc., which have different performance and scope of application. In the selection, the above factors should be considered according to the specific use environment and requirements, and the most appropriate mold material should be selected.
